Daycare Cook

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cook to join our childcare center in North Carolina. This role is critical to ensuring that all meals and snacks meet the health, safety, and nutrition requirements set forth by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services NCDHHS and the Division of Child Development and Early Education DCDEE.

Location: North Carolina
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 700 AM 300 PM
Pay Rate: $14.00 - $15.00/hour

Responsibilities

  • Prepar breakfast, lunch, and snacks following USDA Meal Pattern Guidelines and any
    CACFP Child and Adult Care Food Program) requirements.
  • Maintain proper food storage, preparation, and serving practices in accordance with
    NCDHHS and DCDEE regulations.
  • Keep kitchen and equipment clean, sanitized, and in compliance with health inspection
    standards.
  • Adhere to special dietary needs for children, including allergy accommodations.
  • Maintain inventory, rotate stock, and submit supply requests as needed.
  • Complete required daily and weekly food production, sanitation, and temperature logs.

Mandatory Credentials (per NCDHHS/DCDEE requirements)

  • Food Service Sanitation Certification (e.g., ServSafe® or equivalent approved by
    NCDHHS).
  • TB Test documentation with negative results prior to employment.
  • Medical Statement verifying ability to perform job duties, per DCDEE standards.
  • Background Qualification Letter from DCDEE (criminal background check clearance).
  • Completion of Bloodborne Pathogens training and other safety trainings as required.
  • Ability to comply with CACFP guidelines and participate in required training updates.
  • Must have a GED or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience cooking for groups, preferably in a childcare or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of USDA nutrition guidelines for children.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to cleanliness and safety.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
