Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that fosters the development of all students. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and the community. The Lead Teacher will guide curriculum development, implement lesson plans, and support students with diverse learning needs.

Duties

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
  • Manage classroom dynamics to create a positive learning environment.
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress.
  • Foster effective communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Lead classroom activities that promote literacy education, math skills, and physical education.
  • Support early intervention strategies for children requiring additional assistance.
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom conducive to learning.

Skills

  • Strong classroom management abilities to maintain an effective learning environment.
  • Proficient in curriculum development tailored to early childhood education standards.
  • Familiarity with creative curriculum methods and toddler care principles.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Background in childhood development principles and child welfare practices.
  • Experience working in daycare or private school settings is preferred.
  • Ability to implement behavior management strategies effectively.

Requirements (must be completed before hire):

  • Pass a criminal background check and fingerprint screening
  • Provide a recent TB test and health assessment
  • Complete orientation and onboarding within the first 2–6 weeks
  • Equivalent High School Diploma or GED
  • North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC) or an approved equivalent.

Required Certifications & Training (can be completed after hire):

  • 20–30 hours of early childhood coursework
  • CPR & First Aid Certification
  • ITS-SIDS (for infant/toddler classrooms)
  • Recognizing and Reporting Child Maltreatment
  • Playground Safety (preferred for outdoor supervision)
  • Participate in a minimum of 10 hours of professional development annually

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
